miami fashion week [swim] recap

This past weekend I had the opportunity of attending Miami Fashion Week Swim for the first time. I have to say, I really enjoyed it! They were so many different designers showcasing their swimwear collections such as Mara Hoffman, Caitlin Kelly, and Liliana Montoya just to name a few. These photos are from the launch party friday night over at the Raleigh Hotel. Everyone had a chance to mingle with one another while sipping drinks and munching on delicious treats. I met a few new faces and seen a few old ones. Did I tell y'all I scored my first ever interview? Yup, Maya my gorgeous blogger friend over at Alamode Maya asked me to do an interview with her. She asked me questions like when did I start gaining an interest in fashion, what I do, and what shows am I looking forward to seeing. I can't wait to share the video! But for now, pictures will just have to do. I'm wearing an orange silk tank from H&M, a pink pencil skirt from Zara and threw over my blue cobalt blazer from Mango. My blazer can also be viewed here. To complete my look I wore a pair of shocking pink heels from JCrew. I brought in my white Bebe clutch to balance all the colors together. I can't wait for next year's fashion week, I'm already planning outfits in my head!

mixin' & matchin'.

An ongoing trend this season is mixing prints. I have to say, the very first time I attempted this trend I was a bit skeptical with how it would turn out. I figured out a few tips and tricks along the way that made it that much easier to conquer the mixing of prints. Not to worry stingers, I believe sharing is caring! So here are a few ways to successfully mix prints! Mix large or bold prints with smaller prints; That way there will be some sort of counter-balance. Make sure the colors work together; Try to keep them in the same color family. This will make the colors seem more cohesive as if they were meant to go together. Start off with something simple; Stripes are a neutral starting point and understated florals can be the easiest to pair with other prints. Use accessories to do the mixing; Try mixing with a cute pair of flats first, a fun scarf or printed belt. To be honest, there are so many factors that go into mixing prints. I don't claim to have all the answers because I'm still learning along the way myself. The trend can be a little tricky and the last think you want to do is leave the house looking as if you don't own a mirror. I mean let's be real, you might look a little crazy. If you have any additional tips feel free to share them in a comment below. I'm a firm believer in sharing the wealth. If I know how to look good wearing a trend I'll make it my business to tell everyone I can how to do it so we can look good together! I mean why not right? Life is way too short to waste time wearing bad outfits. Top-Peter Pilotto, Skirt-Peter Pilotto,Charlotte Russe, Clutch-Forever21

almost nude.

How cute are these short that I snagged for $12 bucks at Marshalls?? I mean really, who would of thought that all your summer essentials could be accessible under one roof? Stores such as Tjmaxx and Marshalls are great to shop at, especially when you're trying to shop on a budget. You're literally able to find all of your must haves for whatever season without breaking the bank. After all, you should never have to pay full price for fabulous. :) With my shorts, I played with the nude hues and brought it out in my entire outfit. I decided to pair this look with loafers instead of sandals just to give more of a preppy feel to it. How are you guys liking my look? Feel free to leave a comment below, thanks for stopping by! i love my boyfriend.

Happy 4th of July Stingers! So many barbecues and pool parties are going on this weekend! Unfortunately, I'll be spending my 4th of July weekend working. But I will probably catch the fireworks show with a few friends later on during the day. I'm wearing my boyfriend jeans from Levis, which are quickly becoming my go to pair of jeans - definitely great for the summer. I cannot begin to tell you how obsessed I am with my silk tank from H&M. I just love how easy going it is and that I can pair it up with just about anything in my closet. My look this 4th of July holiday I wanted something simple but chic, that way whatever I end up doing I'll be dressed for it. Wedges-Discovery Bag-Nordstrom Necklace-Forever21 Sunglasses-Aldo
